Principles of effective communication

Task 1

Introduction

This task is based on how we communicate with each other. These are separated into 3 different sections.
These are general communications, interpersonal communication and written communication

General

In order for communication to occur there must be some form of an audience for your message to be brodcasted to.

Adapting to suit an audience

Depending on the audience you have present your form of communication can differ.
From the type of language you use to how you deliver your message.

An example to adapting your communication skills  to the audience is changing certain things throughout a presentation depending on the cultural background of the audience.
Introducing yourself towards different nationalities  would also need to be addressed such as bowing at the start of a conversation.
Terminology of the presentation

You should also research into who you are presenting your presentation to as if you make your presentation to complicated for the particular audience they will soon lose interest.
The same goes for making your presentation being too simple. They will also lose interest in the subject quickly.

Question and answer

Questioning and answering can be a great way to keep your audience engaged and to clarify points.
Questioning your can also see how much your audience has been listening to your presentation, this will give you feedback for your next presentation and can also break the ice in terms of communicating with your audience.
This will also allow the audience to question the presenter questions on the chosen subject.

Interpersonal skills

Interpersonal skills are the skills a person uses to communicate with a person or people.
Types of these skills are-

Active engagement

Paraphasing

Paraphasing is a great way to keep the audience engaged as just reading the text which is on the powerpoint can become very boring for the audience and if you paraphase the content, it will also show that you have good understanding of the choosen subject.

Engaging

When a audience member asks you a question, nooding and replying to the audience member will show that you are engaging with them and showing intrest on what they are saying.

Summarising

Summarising is also another way to keep the audience from getting bored as reading out too much text becomes boring quickly for the audience. So putting all your content into a valid nutshell can come into good use for the end of a presenation or a slide with alot of text within it.

Questioning

Questiong an audience member can also be entartaining and wake up an audience as this is seen as a version of engaging the audience.
Open ended questions will allow more interaction back and forth with the crowd and a closed ended question could be used to make a valid point.

Rainbow could use this to present it

Accuracy

Now that the needs and the terminology of the audience has been worked out you now need to work out on the accuracy of your presentation.
The main way i which presentations are seen as entertaining and engaging towards the audience is by giving relevant facts with relevant sources.

Written communication

Written communication is different to the past 2 forms of communication i have written about above. Construction is needed to your written or typed up message.
Therefore necessary knowledge of the English vocabulary is needed in order to make the written message seem professionally written.

How does written communication help Rainbow?

A company will need to write letters, email and memos to other people within and outside Rainbow. Therefore to keep a professional image, good written communication is needed.

Sentence structure

The sentence structures need to be paragraphed and written out to a professional degree.
Paragraphs need to be structured in order to keep the reader wanting to read the content and make the piece look attractive.
Example's of how sentence structures can work differently on a

Spelling and punctuation

If the punctuation and spelling is not up to standard in written pieces then this  could cause confusion and show non professionalism.

Slang and text writing is also unacceptable within a workplace as it is not professional and not understood around other parts of the country.
Spelling check should always be on in order to prevent spelling errors being done in work pieces.
